Winter Family Portraits with Michelle and Rick
When Rick contacted me to purchase a gift certificate for Michelle for a Christmas gift I was so happy for her. What a thoughtful guy! So when they booked their family portrait session in the new year, I was looking forward to it as much as they were! After having a consultation on clothing ideas and locations, we were booked. The weather turned out to be overcast with very light snow, which was perfect. No glaring sun causing harsh shadows, or squinting eyes.
Together we wandered along the path at Cottonwood Island Park down to the Nechako River and under the old bridge. We thought about heading to Goat Island, but the river wasn't frozen all the way across so we stepped across some cracked ice patches to solid ground. With the old bridge in the background we captured a few great ones before Rick returned Abby, their sweet old dog, back to their vehicle. While we waited for his return, we were able to get some individual shots of Michelle and the kids, and a few different groupings too. I love to add variety to my sessions, and we were so glad we did! Kids grow up so fast and Michelle confided that it was over seven years since they had family photos taken.
It was a bit chilly on the river, but they were all troopers, removing their coats for the photos. But soon we all needed to warm up a bit. Heading to the vehicles, we decided to go up to the university for one last group shot. And we were so glad we did! I don't put a limit on the time for a session because you never know what will come next.
With two teenage girls and a young boy turning double digits, this family picked a perfect time in life to capture moments like these. And living in the north, we are fortunate to have all four seasons to create wonderful memories to treasure forever. Thank you, Michelle and Rick, for trusting me to create these images for you.
