For Immediate Release
March 16, 2017, Prince George, BC – Local Photographer, Terrill Bodner, is thrilled to announce the acceptance of two of her images into Professional Photographers of Canada's National Image Salon. The National Salon was judged at Humber College on February 24th and 25th by a panel of five Accredited Judges. Approximately 750 images were entered into the salon from photographers all across Canada. Being accepted into the National Salon is one of the association's highest honours. Image Salon is held annually with an awards banquet to follow at the International Photography Conference and Expo. This year it is held in Ottawa in April.
Since 2010, Terrill has been serving her community with photographic art. She expertly captures minor league football players in action, provides families with wonderful memories of growing up together, as well as provides services for realtors who want images a cut above. Terrill is currently one of a very few Nationally Accredited Photographers in the Prince George area.
An Accredited member of PPOC is a specialist in his or her chosen field of photography. The Accreditation process recognizes photographers who have reached a nationally accepted standard of proficiency and knowledge in photographic arts. An Accreditation is achieved by submitting ten images in a chosen category to a PPOC Board of Review. This peer-reviewed program challenges candidates to demonstrate their capability of delivering exceptional quality photography in a chosen category. In assessing Accreditation Submissions, the judges consider the following criteria: Impact, Creativity, Style, Composition, Presentation, Color Balance, Centre of Interest, Lighting, Subject Matter, Quality, Technique, and Story Telling.
Becoming an Accredited member of PPOC made me realize I am as talented as other professional photographers and it has made me more aware of what it takes to be a professional in this industry. In 2011, I entered my first National Image Salon and received an Accepted and Merit on two of my images, both Pictorial! I continued my education, taking workshops and online courses in photography to improve my craft which led to earning first my Craftsman of Photographic Arts and one year later my Master of Photographic Arts, both designations from Professional Photographers of Canada. Having my work judged and accepted by my peers gives me the confidence to say "This is what I do and I am worth it!"

In any season, any element of nature, I look for and find the beauty in it. Whether it is a grove of aspens in a sunlit forest or a couple of trains heading for their destination, I search for forms, lines, shapes, colours, textures and light and try to convey how it plays with my subject to capture a moment in time. - Terrill Bodner
