Fall In Goldstream
Forty years together...a truly amazing couple. My twin sister Becky (I call her Nell) and her husband Ken took me for a walk through Goldstream Park on a recent visit to Vancouver Island. Such a beautiful fall day with big orange maple leaves strewn about the ground, the sun shining through the branches of trees.
Soon there will be more salmon spawning in this river. We were early and so we saw only a few making their way upstream.
"Are ya coming?" Webby (his real name is Webster) seems to say to me as he races back to where I was photographing them. He's a little impatient because it's so much fun to play in the leaves and he doesn't want to stop to pose for me. He's eleven now but sometimes I think he's still a two-year-old. He even smiles at me when I show up.
Twelve days spent visiting on the island weren't enough but it will have to do for now. I think I have convinced them both to have me house sit when they travel. And I'd stay a few days before they left and a few days after they returned, just so we can have more fun times together.
