This weekend I was thrilled to be selected as this year's PPOC-BC Image Salon winner of the Best in Class Award for Pictorial/Floral for my image "Aurora-Goddess of the Dawn". Since joining PPOC in 2010 I have entered competitions both regionally and nationally, and have had many of my images accepted into the salons. Receiving a Best in Class award is like icing on the cake for me.
I'm excited about this image, and want to share it with everyone, but only those who attended PHOTOGraphie Festival this weekend, or those who might check out the exhibit at UBC Robson Square where it will hang for a month with the Best of BC 2019 Traveling Exhibition images will know what it is. The reason I'm not posting it now is that it will go on to be entered into the PPOC National Image Competition and hopefully do well there too so I don't want the prospective judges to see it. It's a hard thing to do, hold back my work and not show it to the world, but it will give me time as well to add it to my photographic art collection I am currently working on. Stay tuned for more exciting news in the new year!
Thank you to my many friends and peers who have encouraged me over the years. A little piece of each of you goes into the making of my photographs. This one is no exception.
Terrill
PS.. (February 22, 2020) I can now post the image as the National Image Competition is now over. I'm happy to announce that this image was Accepted into the 2020 National Salon.
