SPA - Service of Professional Arts Designation
So the question is...how much bling does a girl really need?
Being a member of Professional Photographers of Canada since 2010 has brought me much joy and success. Who knew I would start a new career at the age of 50? Actually, I just picked up an old love of photography, was given a digital camera as a gift from my husband, and in 2009 I signed up for a Photography class at UNBC with a professional photographer, now friend, Philomena Hughes. (She gave me an A!) When I heard about PPOC through Phil I was intrigued to learn more so I attended a meeting or two, entered the Northern Branch Fall Salon and was hooked!
This award is extra special to me as it was earned using only Service Merits. Serving on the BC Board since 2014 holding a few volunteer positions such as Communications portfolio, Event Registration Chair, Northern Branch Vice Chair, Northern Branch Chair, as well as being a competition judge at the regional and national level, and accrediation judge. I learned so much helping out with organizing events over the years.
"As part of its continuing program of Honours & Awards, the Professional Photographers of Canada are pleased to announce that: TERRILL BODNER is a recipient of the coveted SERVICE OF PHOTOGRAPHIC ARTS.
This prestigious designation is bestowed by the PPOC upon its members whose images accepted into the annual PPOC Image Salon over a number of years are of a high quality and in recognition of the contributions made by them to the Association and to photography in Canada. These photographers have proven their photographic abilities by participating in the Association’s National Image Competition and have confirmed their dedication to the profession by serving the Association. The Professional Photographers of Canada is a not-for-profit organization representing photographers of all genres from across the country. The Association promotes photographic excellence through education and exploration of image artistry and establishes standards of professional performance. The designation was presented to Terrill Bodner by PPOC Chairperson, Ross Outerbridge MPA, at the Association’s annual Awards Gala, which took place Saturday, April 23rd, as a Virtual Gala in compliance with our current national limitations on in-person gatherings.
Craftsman, Master and Service of the Photographic Arts are honours bestowed upon its members by the Professional Photographers of Canada. These designations denote proven photographic ability and commitment to the advancement of professional photography, as well as service to the Association. Members are encouraged to earn print and service merits toward these prestigious designations through their participation and success in Accreditation, National Image Competition, and volunteer service to the Association at both the Regional and National levels.
Returning something to the profession which provides one’s livelihood is part of the badge of distinction which denotes the holder of CPA, MPA and SPA members."
