Family Sessions are Wonderful
I had the best day today. But I think my client had an even better one!
It's not everyday I get to deliver a 50"x30" canvas, plus 3 smaller ones, and 4 framed prints to the woman who wanted to capture her wonderful family one last time before the oldest son gets married. And it brought tears to our eyes as I revealed this big beautiful piece that will be displayed on the fireplace mantle of their beautiful country home.
When we met at the boat launch area I got to meet them all for the first time. Although Sharel and I had spoken a few times before to set it all up, I felt I knew what she wanted. As we wandered along the path, I checked for the best spot for her and Mike to stand so that the cutbanks would be in the image, giving a sense of place. Then since the inlet was frozen and the snow wasn't very deep, we decided to walk down to the log that was across the snow. Another great setting for this family! And I loved the blank canvas of winter snow that surrounded them so nicely!
Sharel wanted a special photo of her with their boys so she could have it hang in her home office. As we were admiring the canvases, I asked to see where she would put it in her office, and that lead to a lovely discussion on travel and retirement. Then a tour of her she-shed and raised-bed garden. A treat of kolrabi, radishes, and some cilantro were a pleasant surprise for me! Delicious too!
Family Portrait sessions are my favourite, and if you're thinking of booking a session with me, I'd love to hear from you!
