Early Morning Session at Nechako Riverside Park
It's not every day I get to photograph a man in uniform. Actually it was my first session photographing one!
When I was contacted by Sarah for a headshot session, I responded as usual, noting that I could do an outdoor session and wondered what location she had in mind. She called to let me know the session was not for her, but for a member of the RCMP in Prince George. The appointment was booked for December 1st and she needed a quick turn around as this was to be the last image for an upcoming book being produced by the National Police Federation, the sole bargaining agent for regular Members and reservists of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police below the rank of Inspector.
So on December 1st at 11 AM I met L.B. at the North District Headquarters for his photo session. It was a bit chilly at -24C but it had to be done outdoors. Luckily there was no wind.
L. was new to Prince George, so I decided to take him to the river closest to his work location. As I drove to my appointment, I crossed the Foothills bridge, passed Nechako Riverside Park, and noticed how lovely the crisp morning was by the river. Although the temperature was -24C, the steam rose off the river, making it look magical. I knew I wanted to bring him here, if he had the time.
To be sure we got an image that would be worthy of being in the book, we spent almost an hour down by the river at Nechako Riverside Park. It was secluded, even too cold for critters, so it was easy to relax and chat and get several wonderful photos. That afternoon, I sent Sarah and L. a link to choose from several images, and she loved them all, but needed only one for the book so I sent it right away. I do understand deadlines!
What a great session! Thank you, L. for being such a sport and obliging me with my location of choice!
Until next time, stay safe and healthy!
