Cousins
Lynn's Dad and Pat's Mom's are siblings so that makes these two beauties cousins!
Lynn and Pat were born in Fort St John in 1951, Lynn in February and Pat in May. They lived near each other as young children, Lynn in Rose Prairie, and Pat in North Pine. When they were about 6 years old Lynn's family moved up the Alaska Highway, first to Summit Lake and then to Fort Nelson. When they came home to visit family they often stayed at Pat's home. The common meeting place for family gatherings was their Grandma Wilson's home in Rose Prairie. They remained close. Lynn's family moved back to Fort St John when the girls were in their early teens. After graduation they moved on with their lives but have always stayed connected. When Pat moved to Prince George in 1996 Lynn had already lived here for a few years. Their children were grown and they were both working but always managed to fit in a lunch visit, theatre outing or a walking visit and have continued on as "Cousin/Sister/Friends" over the years. Pat is so grateful for Lynn and she's sure she'd say the same of her. The Love and Support they share is certainly Sister-like.
They decided that for their 70th birthday gift to themselves and each another they would have professional photos done and Pat just happened to know a talented friend/photographer and gave me a call....
Here's what Pat had to say about our little adventure. "I loved that we were guided from one location to another seamlessly - Terry had of course scouted out the perfect spots with the fall leaves, a wooden bridge and the river. We hadn't done this before so she gave us great posing ideas and had lots of patience while we giggled and composed ourselves. At one point I lost my balance while trying to pose in a squat-like position and fell over in the rocks, almost taking Lynn with me - more giggling...."
Here's what Lynn had to say: "Pat is my best cousin friend! Over the years raising our families we were taken in separate directions but we always kept in touch. We celebrated our 70th birthdays this year, mine in February, Pats in May. Our gift to each other this year was to have our photos done. Thank You for the outstanding experience. The beautiful colors of fall really enhanced the photos of us."
"The photo session was made so easy by your comfortable manner. My only concern was what to wear and I really wanted the photos outdoors. As time passed in the year, I thought we had missed our opportunity to be comfortable outside. It all turned out perfect. We were blessed to have a beautiful fall day in one of our City's Parks (Cottonwood Island Park). I will treasure these photos forever!
My favourite parts of our session was the different landscapes we could choose from in just a 15 minute walk. The natural backdrops created some entertaining pictures, from standing on a foot bridge, sitting on a log or standing by the water with a bridge in behind us. Thanks again for your patience in setting up each click of the camera." ~ Lynn
It's so wonderful to be able to photograph people. And when it's friends, it's even better. When Pat approached me to do this session for their 70th birthday, I was honoured and happy to do it! What a wonderful gift to give each other. Thank you, lovely ladies, for a memorable session, and for trying all those poses I threw at you! You did great! Seeing the closeness you both share as cousins is heart-warming. I know you and your families will treasure your photos forever!
